He’s known in Alpine countries variously as Krampus, Klaubauf, Bartl, and Wubartl, a beast-like, half-goat, half-demon creature that takes over where Santa left off (think of Krampus as the anti-Santa). While Saint Nicholas rewards well-behaved boys and girls with gifts, Krampus captures naughty kids, places them in his oversized-sack, and carries them away to his lair or worse, hell. Traditionally, each year during the Christmas season, men in Austria, Bavaria, Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Croatia dress up in frightening elaborate Krampus costumes and roam the streets looking for small kids to chase, scare, and beat with sticks.
It will forever be known as one of the luckiest breaks in poultry history – the day a propitious hatchet job left “Miracle Mike” (aka Mike the Headless Chicken) in a one-in-a-million state that allowed him to live for over a year without a head. The unusual event started routinely enough. On September 10, 1945, Mrs. Clara Olsen of Fruita, Colorado, sent her husband Lloyd Olsen out to the chicken pen on a routine mission to bring back a chicken for the evening’s meal. Clara’s mother was coming over for dinner and Lloyd wanted to make the evening special for his mother-in-law. And what a memorial evening it turned out to be…
Curse of Atuk – unfilmed movie has resulted in the deaths of all four famous actors who were offered the lead part
In Hollywood movie lore, there have been several movies deemed to be “cursed”, bringing bad-fortune and even death to primary participants in the film project. But only one movie *script* has proven so deadly and wrapped with misfortune that directors and actors no longer want anything to do with the as-yet-unfilmed movie project. Thus far, The Curse of Atuk is rumored to have killed four (some say six) well-renowned actors.
NYC residents report hearing a spooky chilling chorus of voices coming from new One World Trade Center
The first reports came via social networks in late October 2012 during Hurricane Sandy. Puzzled New York City residents reported hearing a strange sound, described as a steady, consistent moaning noise, coming from One World Trade Center (formerly known as Freedom Towers). Users discussed the odd noise and decided it was the wind whistling through the top, unfinished floors of the new One World Trade Center tower. Then a few months later, another resident, New Yorker Kenny Cummings, reported hearing the strange sound – after the tower was substantially completed and the façade enclosed with glass. His “unmistakable and very chilling” recording captures the sound that has baffled New Yorkers since last year.
At the age of 15, after a violent fight with his father, Archie Karas ran away from home then hopped on an international ship taking a job as a waiter. By the time his ship reached America, he understood not only what it took to survive, but had the wherewithal (and intelligence) to grow rich while doing what he loved. Considered by many to be the greatest gambler of all time, he once had the longest documented winning streak in gambling history. Known simply as “The Run”, Karas took $50 and in a little more than 2 years, turned it into $40 million. He then lost it all the following year.
During a period of several years in the early 1900’s, New Orleans teetered on the brink of panic after a string of murders that were as gruesome as they were terrifying. Reminiscent of an American version of Jack the Ripper, the ax-wielding serial killer known as “Axeman”, broke into homes across New Orleans in the middle of the night and savagely hacked his sleeping victims to death with an axe before quietly slipping away into the darkness. By the time the attacks mysteriously ended in October 1919, over a dozen people had been attacked with at least six people hacked to death in bloody fashion. The Axeman was never caught.
The United States House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) concluded that Kennedy was probably assassinated as the result of a conspiracy, with “a high probability that two gunmen fired at the President.”. Most current theories put forth a criminal conspiracy involving parties as varied as the CIA, the mafia, anti-Castro Cuban exile groups, the military industrial complex, sitting Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, Cuban President Fidel Castro, FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, the KGB, or some combination of those entities. Here’s a synopsis of the events and summary of the various conspiracies being circulated along with some interesting additional evidence and exhibits from the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
Zimbabwe school mass UFO sighting – 62 children independently confirm saucer-shaped UFO and alien sighting
In what is widely considered to be one of the best “close encounter” cases in UFO history, on September 16, 1994, sixty-two children witnessed an extraordinary spectacle on the playground of Ariel School in the small farming community of Ruwa, Zimbabwe. Students ranging in age from 5 to 12 years old, described (and drew) the same scenario – a fleet of alien UFOs, one of which touched down near their school playground, and two “small gray men with thin necks and huge eyes”. Researchers and psychologists, descended on the scene and in the end, ruled that the event “seemed to be what it is”. The children had seen something they could not explain – and it terrified them.
“Island of the Dolls” – site of little girls death is adorned with hundreds of creepy, dead-eyed dolls hanging from the trees
It’s a common theme in horror movies – creepy, dead-eyed dolls dangling from a cord hung from a tree. If the scenario gets your chest a thumping, you may want to visit Mexico’s Isla de las Munecas, or Island of the Dolls, where the entire island looks like it came straight from a horror movie film set. And the story of how the strange and scary island came to be is even creepier than the hundreds of eerie mutilated dolls dangling from the island’s trees.
Real-life “Chucky” doll – 104-year-old Robert the Doll, possessed by evil spirits, terrorizes families and curses anyone who takes its picture
It has long been rumored that Chucky, the evil serial killer doll in the movie Child’s Play, was based in part on a real-life, 104-year-old doll known as Robert the Doll. The pint-sized chunk of straw-stuffed clothing and cloth was alleged to be possessed by evil spirits that terrorized every family that was unfortunate enough to come into possession of the devilish toy.
The mysterious Room 322 in Houston’s luxurious Hotel ZaZa – unlisted private room looks like a snuff film set
The mysterious Room 322 inside Hotel ZaZa in Houston, Texas is not listed for rent but was exposed in February 2013 when a travelling business customer was accidentally placed in the room by mistake and quickly took pictures of the room which, with cold dirty concrete floors, chains on the walls, skull and bones paintings, two-way mirrors, and plastic wrapped furniture, looks like the foreboding film set for a dark snuff movie. A forum user, who posted pictures of the bizarre room in a public forum, posed the question, “Does anyone know what’s up with this room?” and commenced describing his bizarre experience inside the dark and foreboding room.
Madame Marie Delphine LaLaurie – New Orleans socialite caged, tortured, and maimed her slaves for fun
Those who watched season 3 of American Horror Story may be surprised to learn that Kathy Bate’s character, Madame Delphine LaLaurie, is based on a real-life New Orleans tale of horror. In true-life, Mad Madame Marie Delphine LaLaurie, a prominent New Orleans socialite, was discovered to have caged and savagely tortured her slaves in a small room at the top of her Royal Street mansion. The LaLaurie Mansion is now considered one of the most haunted places in New Orleans.
The Maury Island incident – Crisman and Dahl sighting of six UFOs over Maury Island sparks conspiracy and coverup
When it comes to early historical UFO accounts, we often recall the Roswell crash or the Kenneth Arnold sighting, both of which occurred in 1947. Seldom is the 1947 Maury Island incident remembered nor mentioned in publications, and for good reason – many UFO investigators believe the Maury Island incident was a hoax. Regardless of whether or not Harold Dahl and Fred Crisman spotted six UFOs flying above Maury Island in June of 1947, the Maury Island case incorporates several unusually bizarre, but historically proven facts, including the first reported case of government-sponsored “men in black”, two suspicious crashes of airplanes transporting case evidence back to their home base, several shadowy deaths of witnesses and participants, and a historically proven tie-in to the John F. Kennedy assassination.
In 2007, highway surveillance video from the United Kingdom captured what appears to be a strange humanoid-like creature sprinting across a four-lane highway. At full-speed, the video appears to be of an animal crossing the highway at a pretty fast clip but still-frames from the video call that identification into question. Still frame photos show what appears to be a human head, body, and legs on a bizarre humanoid running on all fours.
African “muti murders” – Hospitals sell body parts and murderers harvest organs from live victims for witch doctor use in black magic spells
It’s a dirty little secret in South Africa, one that as of 2010, is once again on the rise. Called “muti murders” or “medicine murders” (sometimes termed “ritual murder” or muthi-murder), it takes its name from the Zulu word “muti”, the term for traditional black magic medicines that utilize human body parts and flesh as critical ingredients in order to produce supposedly miraculous medicinal effects. The phenomenon is widely acknowledged to occur in southern Africa where it is estimated that from 50%-90% of the population believe in black magic and witchcraft. The Limpopo province alone once recorded 250 muti-murders in a single year. Body parts from dead corpses serve a valuable purpose but the best muti medicine ingredients are taken from body parts that are harvested while the victim is still alive.
